THE REAL NAVY

It's the Navy that you are in.  It's the real Navy from the very beginning.  All your

training, education and drill is real Navy time.  Treat it that way.   Don't let

anyone tell you different.

This is a pencil sketch of a VQ-1 "World Watchers" EP-3E Orion in front of Mount Fuji in Japan.  This was the reconnaissance aircraft that I used to fly in during the early part of my career as a naval officer.
The beauty of being a cryptologist is that it was a career field that allowed me to move from a shore assignment, to submarines, back to shore duty, then flight duty for two very different tours, back to shore duty, then an afloat staff on USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), then command ashore, training director of the Navy's cryptologic and electronic warfare schoolhouse, the Joint Staff and finally working for the Secretary of Defense, Donald H. Rumsfeld, during a most difficult time in our Nation's history.
