The Real Navy

Like you, I was constantly told during my Navy career to "wait until you get to the real Navy - the Fleet."  I spent 30 years in the real Navy.  It was the real thing from the first day of recruit training until retirement some 30 years later.  It was filled with real Sailors, Chiefs and officers dedicated to fulfilling the Navy's only true mission -

"CONDUCTING SUSTAINED COMBAT OPERATIONS AT SEA."

If you are in the Navy today, you are in the Real Navy.  Every moment counts, don't let anyone tell you any differently.  In the Real Navy (our United States Navy), people do things the right way for the right reasons.  Don't let someone tell you to "wait until you get to the Real Navy."  You're in the real Navy, so get busy and help your Shipmates succeed.  They are counting on you.  Don't let them down; don't let yourself down; don't let your parents down.

Thank you for your service to the Nation, our great Navy and our superb Sailors.

Shortcuts...
"Commit yourself to avoiding shortcuts until you have gone the long way at least once." - a wise Navy man.
The Way Ahead...
Part of our responsibility as members of the Navy family is to actively participate in bettering our service and mentoring our Shipmates.  I will try to do my part with this website.  Please do your part!
